Honorable Mention Blue Girl in a Blue Room Treezaa (T.E.Ballard) People name the girl azure, beryl, cerulean tell her she is less than cobalt or indigo. All she’s able to grasp is she is the weight of a breath, color of sighs. A cherry tree grows in her room. One planted when her husband loved her enough but the branches are broken by the weight of dead birds. They are no color at all. And this is why she rocks her child to sleep with stories of painters; Picasso, Van Gough and offers the red of an ear tries to explain the years, different hues. Look here into the room the girl is almost invisible by standing still but tomorrow her daughter will paint with the blood of cherries. People will call her cardinal, scarlet, wine but never a blue girl in a blue room.
